Scalpel rebuild teaser

There is still one part missing for my winter Scalpel rebuild but the cleaning, tuning and rebuilding has started. New ESI grips, one SRAM XX trigger fixed with a Formula MixMaster clamp. No left shifter means the cockpit will be extra clean!

Relubing the freehub, an important one! Are you just using chain oil or some special mix? The new XX cassette are quite sharp I hope you don't intend to expose the poor thing to salt and cinder? You should rest it on your fireplace mantle instead!

On Crossmax wheels, I use Pedro's Road Rage lube, one or two drops on the lip seal, 15 drops inside the freehub. I never had a Mavic hub fail and the FTS-X on the SLR tend to stay cleaner, longer (compared to older Mavic freehubs).

The Scalpel has his own room... well it has a few other two-wheeled roomates. It will hibernate until April or so, I won't be able to give much feedback on the XX performance for a while.

My F1000 is sleeping outside though.

Scalpel on rollers... with only a 32T chainring?

Are you only using a 32t chainring? Isn't that a little bit too small? Seems like your Scalpel is going to be really nice otherwise.

Yes, only a 32T, it will be like loosing the last two cogs with a 44T big ring (gears I pretty much only used on the road), I will have about the same low gear as I had with a 29x34... I spent most of my time on the upper half of the cassette with a double crank.

I'm gussing if Geoff Kabush can win a Wrld Cup and finish 5th at the World Championships with only a 32T ring, it wont be what slows me down...
