Cross training

Yesterday I logged three hours of easy pedaling and the plan was to do the same today but I woke up to see a white blanket everywhere this morning. So the three hours of spin will be switched to tomorrow and today's riding will be limited to the total of about an hour of commuting. Why? Tonight will mark my first snowboard ride of the season. I don't think we'll have as much snow as the Japan picture above though, we had just enough to make the commute interesting this morning (interesting means I got to watch a fellow cyclist fall with a smile and the ride made a good cyclocross practice for next year) but it should keep snowing all day long so the slopes should be nice...

Good practice indeed, I found the more sketchy parts to be wet snow packed down by car tires to about 0-4cm deep. The way that snow pack just sorta cracks and slides apart can send your front wheel flying.

Yep, nothing slides like car packed snow, still in snow form, not slush yet but starting to be on the brown side... There was plenty of it yesterday and it was all but impossible to pass cars between the trafic and the sidewalks. It was much faster and easier this morning.

With trafic jams all around and through Montreal yesterday afternoon/evening and the forcast of rain and icing rain in Bromont, we opted to cancel the snowboard night... So after a longer than usual ride home, some shoveling, I went back to the plan and spent some quality time with the trainer...
