Off-season XC team changes

A lot of changes will happen in the mountain bike off season, some teams already officialized new signings, their death or merger, other news will come. For starters, the Cannondale-Vredestein team will apparently cease to exist, Vredestein will partner with Focus and Cannondale will have a factory team. Jakob Fuglsang is heading to road racing, Kashi Leuchs will head a new Felt team but in form Marathon World Champion Roel Paulissen will stay with Cannondale. Todd Wells and Burry Stander are leaving GT to join Christoph Sauser at Specialized and Trek will now have a world class team with Liam Killeen and the Fluckiger brothers...

On the Canadian scene, a very good news is that national and World Cup Champion Marie-Hélène Prémont changed her mind about retiring and will race again next year, still with Rocky Mountain but the team will supposedly merge with the Maxxis team of Geoff Kabush... in the meantime, Geoff is busy racing cyclocross and adding yet another Canadian Champion title in the fall discipline.

Some things don't change though, Absalon stays with Orbea, Hermida, Naf and Milatz with Merida, Spitz with Central-Ghost, russian hottie (see previous post) Irina Kalentieva stays with Topeak-Ergon for two more years and Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesja has re-signed with Merida for 4 more years! That will take her without contract stress all the way to the next Olympic games when she'll be 39 years old. Can't wait to see the new bikes, kits and for the 2009 season to start.
