JP Walker leaves Forum

Upside down JP dropping a nice gap in Whistler's backcountry

Yes, Forum Snowboards has changed a lot since it was founded over ten years ago. Riders came and left but the essence of the team and thus, the brand, remained... until Burton came along and bought the whole thing. They first kicked OG rider BJ Leines out but the most shocking was the departure of Devun Walsh who, along with Ikka Backstrom and Lauri Heiskari, left Forum to go ride for DC who will start to make more than just shoes and snowboard boots.

Now we learn that JP Walker, a true icon of the sport, didn't renew his contract and will not be seen riding the boards, boots and bindings from the Burton sub-company. Surprising? Yes but not that much, he was a good friend of Devun and Ikka, the team is not what it was and perhaps he didn't like the direction Burton is giving to the company... He shouldn't have too much trouble finding a new sponsor though, even though he's not getting any younger, JP's riding still speaks for itself. He is one of the smoothest riders of the industry, be it on huge backcountry kickers or on rails where his trick list just never ends... It remains to be seen where he will end up, what company's logo he will get as a diamond necklace or if he will start surfing or skateboarding full time... In the meantime, check his part from Shakedown released for the 2003/2004 season.
